Tsolo Police launch manhunt for five suspects who impersonated police

Police are looking for five male suspects who allegedly impersonated police while committing crime in the early hours of Monday, 28 June 2021 in Mangezimeni A/A Malongwe Location.

According to information, police received information about five men who visited a particular household whereby they pretended to be police officers from the National Intervention Unit and were in police uniform.

It is alleged that the five male suspects demanded the victim’s firearm and firearm licence. The victim reportedly complied, believing that the suspects were indeed police officers. As the suspects were leaving, they told the victim to visit Tsolo Police Station for details of what happened to his firearm.

When Tsolo Police contacted the National Intervention Unit enquiring and requesting information about the incident, they were informed that no NIU group worked in that area on the said date.

It was then realized that the suspects were not police officers. A case of house robbery and impersonating police. No arrest made at this stage and investigation continues.

Anyone who can assist the police in tracing the suspects can contact Tsolo Police Station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or MySAPS app.
