Suspect disarmed and arrested by lockdown II

Endeavours by Lockdown II forces to root out serious and violent crimes were rewarded with an arrest last night in Nyanga. During routine patrols in the area late last night, a man was found sleeping in his vehicle in Sonwabile Drive. Acting on instinct, the man’s vehicle was searched which led to the discovery of a 9mm pistol without a serial number and 14 rounds of ammunition.

The 38-year-old suspect was arrested and is expected to make his court appearance on Monday in Athlone for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
