Bodies of two drowning victims recovered near Brits

On Thursday, 19 August 2021, Northwest police divers attended the drowning scene at the irrigation (flowing water) canal near Brits. According to a five-year-old eye witness, there were three children playing next to the irrigation canal when two of them went swimming.

They disappeared under the water. The body of an 8-year-old boy was recovered from the water a few kilometers downstream at a retaining wall. The body of the other child (5 years) was found this morning, 20 August 2021 when the police divers continued with the search.
