Suspects abandon getaway vehicle in Mountview

Two suspects who allegedly attempted to steal a bakkie on Bridgeford Drive in Mountview, KZN abandoned their getaway vehicle after being pursued by the public.

Residents in the area contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) requesting assistance after the occupants of a silver Toyota Corolla were seen interfering with a Hyundai H100 bakkie. Reaction Officers were dispatched to the location provided and on arrival met with the community who stated that the suspects sped off after they realised that they had attracted attention to themselves. The public pursued them in their vehicles when the suspects abandoned the Toyota Corolla and fled on foot. A registration check confirmed that the vehicle was not sought after.

The vehicle was handed over to Police for further investigation.
