On Thursday, 23 September 2021, a 58-year-old male suspect was arrested for attempted murder during operation Gijima Tsotsi, executed in Bholothwa.
It is alleged that a 71-year-old victim was involved in a quarrel with the suspect on 22 September 2021, who then went home and returned with a firearm. A shot was fired and the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the left-hand thumb.
During the early hours of this morning, the suspect was arrested at the Esingeni locality in Mbinzana A/A, Bholothwa on charges of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. A firearm and ammunition were also confiscated.
The suspect will appear before the Bholothwa Magistrates Court on 28 September 2021 on related charges.
