Suspect arrested with copper cables

The Queenstown-based Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in a joint venture with Queenstown Crime Intelligence, Transnet, Isidingo Security, Red Guard Security, and Queenstown Community Service Centre members arrested a 34-year-old suspect for possession of suspected stolen property and damage to essential infrastructure on 06 October 2021.

It is alleged that on 06 October 2021 at about 03:00, information was received about a Toyota Hilux that was on the way to Queenstown coming from Carthcart direction fully loaded with copper cables. The joint team responded swiftly and embarked on an intelligence-driven operation where they stopped and searched the target vehicle near Queenstown’s Total garage. It is further reported that 19 rolls of Copper cables with a street value of R600 000-00 were recovered. A Toyota Double cab bakkie and two cellphones were confiscated during the arrest.

The suspect will appear in Queenstown Magistrate’s Court on 07 October 2021.
