A man disgruntled with his girlfriend’s decision to terminate their relationship set her house on fire this afternoon (Saturday, 09/10/2021).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to a house in B Section, Parkgate at 18:04 after receiving reports of the house on fire. On arrival, Reaction Officers discovered a large group of people on scene. They had managed to extinguish the fire prior to the arrival of First Responders.
According to residents, the owner of the house broke up with her boyfriend last week. He returned this afternoon and set the house alight. She was not at home at the time. The public attempted to apprehend the man however he managed to flee.
Most of the household contents were destroyed.
