Police are on the lookout for more than three suspects who attacked police whilst they were attending to a business burglary complaint at Mabuza Bar Lounge at Tonga this morning.
Police responded to a complaint where a suspicious-looking person was seen within the business premises at about 01:00 on Monday, November 08, 2021.
On their arrival, three suspects, one armed with a rifle and the other two with handguns fired several shots in the direction of the police.
Police retaliated and gunshots were exchanged.
A few minutes later the suspects retreated, and when police gained entrance to the premises, they realised that the wall was broken.
Some equipment that is suspected to have been used, including the grinder were found on the scene.
Some bloodstains were also seen in the guardhouse where suspects took cover.
The blood was also seen on their escape gate.
No member sustained any gunshot and it is believed one or more suspects were injured during the shootout.
Police request assistance so that anyone who might have been admitted to any hospital with gunshot wounds to be reported to the police for further investigation.
An attempted murder and Business Burglary cases were registered.
