Police seizes R60 000 worth of drugs during clamp down on drug outlets in Prins Albert

On Tuesday, 23 November 2021, a clamp-down operation focussing on illicit drug outlets in Prins Albert, a small town in the Great Karoo, led to the confiscation of more than R60 000 of drugs and the subsequent arrest of three suspects.

Members attached to the Rural Flying Squad, Tactical Response Team, and K9 Unit, armed with a search warrant, pounced on a house at Muisvoël Street, Prins Albert. A search of the premises led to the confiscation of a bag containing Tik with an estimated street value of R53000-00, 3.2 kilogram of dagga, and 34 Mandrax tablets. This find led to the arrest of a 37-year-old suspect.

These forces proceeded to other premises at Muisvoël Street when they operationalised information on illicit activities. The police confiscated 51 banks of dagga and subsequently arrested a 24-year-old man.

On the same day, the forces embarked on an operation at Klaarstroom just outside Prins Albert where they confiscated 4 bags of dagga and 30 banks. This led to the arrest of a 42-year-old suspect.

All the arrested suspects will appear in court once charged. The suspects are facing a charge of dealing drugs.

These arrests and confiscations form part of ongoing Safer Festive Season operations aimed at the eradication of illicit drug activities in communities.
