Four suspects arrested for carjacking in Bholothwa

On Monday, 17 January 2022, four suspects were arrested in Cofimvaba after an Isuzu bakkie, belonging to a hardware store in Bholotwa, was hijacked on its way to make a delivery in Ngcobo.

It is alleged that on this day at about 14:50, four suspects, driving a silver grey VW Polo, visited a hardware store in Bholothwa to buy fifty bricks to be delivered in Ngcobo.

As an employee of the hardware store was driving with a white Isuzu delivery bakkie in the direction of Ngcobo, he was stopped by the silver-grey VW Polo vehicle, with the four suspects. The driver was taken from the delivery vehicle, while one of the suspects drove off in the direction of Cofimvaba.

Bholothwa visible police members gave chase and the Isuzu bakkie and VW Polo was recovered in Cofimvaba.

A total of four suspects of which one a female between the ages of 22 and 37 was arrested and will appear before the Lady Frere Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 19 January 2022, on charges relating to carjacking.

The Acting Chris Hani District Commissioner, Brigadier Zuziwe Magqashela applauded the Station Commander, Captain Velaphi, and the team for their swift response that led to the successful arrest.
