One of “The hammer-gang” business robbery members arrested

Members from the Welkom Public Order Police’s Task Team were busy with Crime Combatting Duties in the Thabong area when they received information about the whereabouts of one of the “hammer-gang” members. This notorious gang is alleged to be involved in a string of Business Robberies at foreign national owned Tuck Shops in Thabong where a hammer is used to break the wall to gain entry.

The members followed up on the information and on Monday (2022.01.17) afternoon they found the suspect at a house in Thubelisha in Thabong. At the house some of the suspected stolen properties and cash were found. The suspect also admitted on the spot that he is indeed one of the so called “hammer-gang” members.

Upon further investigation another alleged gang member was arrested at his house in Dooringpan in Thabong and some of the robbed items were also confiscated.

The two suspects aged 28 and 29 will soon be brought before court on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and business robberies.
