An intelligence-driven operation by Tactical Response Team (TRT) and Crime Prevention members led to the arrest of an 18-year-old suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Police members embarked on operation Sikhona and managed to arrest the suspect at Zazulwana Location outside Butterworth. During the operation, Police searched the suspect and found a 9mm replica. Upon the investigation, it was discovered he is not the owner as the serial number was filed off. The firearm was confiscated by Police.
The suspect is due to appear at Butterworth Magistrate Court tomorrow.
