Hollywood Bets driver shot dead in Mawothi

An employee of Hollywood Bets was shot dead while dropping off staff in Mawothi – KZN.

The 30-year-old was dropping off staff in the area when an unknown number of suspects approached the fully branded Toyota Avanza. The driver attempted to reverse when the gunmen opened fire. He was shot in the body and head. The robbers then accosted the three passengers and robbed them of their valuables before fleeing.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance from the scene. Reaction Officers and RUSA Medics were dispatched and on arrival found that the South African Police and a Private Ambulance Service were in attendance. It was confirmed that the driver was fatally injured in the shooting.

The three other occupants in the vehicle were not injured.
