On Saturday, one man was killed and six others injured when a taxi collided with a truck on the N11 outside Ladysmith, KwaZulu Natal.
ER24 and other services arrived to find both vehicles in the middle of the road. One person lay trapped inside the taxi while several others were lying around the vehicle.
Rescue Services had to use specialised equipment to free the man from the vehicle. Once released, medics assessed the patients and found that the entrapped man was in critical condition while six others had sustained minor to moderate injuries.
The patients were treated and immediately transported to nearby hospitals for further care. Unfortunately, on arrival at the hospital, the critically injured man succumbed to his injuries.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
