Two male suspects between the ages of 21 and 23 years were arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Undercover Reaction Unit in possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and an unlicensed firearm at Currey Street and Siemert Road, Doornfotein.

On Saturday 15 October 2022, whilst conducting crime prevention patrols at End Street and Albertina Sisulu Road officers were approached by a male who alluded that he had just been hijacked by two males at Durban and End Street in City and Suburban.

The male gave officers the description of the vehicle, a white Toyota Quantum minibus. He further alluded that he had notified the owner of the vehicle and that the vehicle’s tracking device had been activated.

Whilst patrolling at End Street and Siemert Road officers spotted a minibus matching the description given. The vehicle was stopped at Currey Street and Siebert Road and two male suspects were apprehended.

Upon searching, an unlicensed firearm was found in the driver’s possession. The officers asked to whom the vehicle and firearm belong and they failed to give a satisfactory answer.

Both suspects were placed under arrest and detained at Jeppe SAPS. They are due to appear in court during the course of the week.
