An 80-year-old man was smothered with a pillow during a home invasion on Sun Crescent in Lotusville – KZN this afternoon (Friday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 21:23. On arrival, Reaction Officers met with the elderly male who lives by himself in the main building. He explained that while asleep a pillow was placed over his face in an attempt to smother him. The victim could hear movement in the residence which confirmed that there was more than one suspect in the house. His attacker left the pillow over his face before he fled.
The victim raised the alarm and alerted neighbours, who contacted RUSA for assistance. Reaction Officers inspected the property and discovered the entire house ransacked. The security locks appeared to have been opened with the key. Cash & a safe were discovered missing.
The visibly shaken victim was unable to provide a description of his attackers.
