Seven last words from the cross, police host Pre-Easter service

The Easter also called Resurrection Sunday is a Christian festival that is celebrated mostly in countries or by people within the Christian denominations to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, which occurred on the third day after his passing following his crucifixion by the Romans in the hill (Calvary) near Jerusalem. The commemoration is held annually in the form of sermons, which are called “Seven Last Words from the Cross” on Good Friday.

On Thursday, 30 March 2023, the Spiritual Service under the component Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) within the SAPS organised the pre-Easter Service that was held at the Griffiths Mxenge Memorial Hall, SAPS Provincial Head Office in Zwelitsha. The sermon was led by the Provincial Head for Spiritual Services, Lt Col Vaas, and was assisted by chaplains from the eight districts of the province. A sermon was well-attended by several stakeholders including members of the public.

Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Support Service, Major General Thembeka Kunene in delivering her Easter message, she said, “This service will give us impetus to go and serve our people with dignity and pride during this period of the year. It is also heart-warming to see our local radio station, Mdantsane FM showing interest in covering our service for its listeners, added Maj Gen Kunene.
