Police unsettle alleged drug dealers at Harrismith

The Public Order Police Unit from Welkom deployed in the Thabo Mofutsanyana District for crime prevention purposes have yet again fighting tooth and nail with drug peddlers in our streets and homes. Three suspects were arrested and drugs and dagga were seized.

On 27 June 2023 the team was conducting crime prevention duties in Harrismith, whereby they conducted stop and searches of suspicious people and cars. During their routine duties in town, they stopped and searched the 34-year-old and found rocks of cocaine in his possession and cash. They further stopped a white Mazda sedan with four occupants, of whom one was found in possession of a rock of cocaine. They further went to the suspect’s rented house to search and they found more drugs. The 32-year-old suspect was arrested and glass tubes, sachets with crystal meth, rocks of cocaine, a large quantity of dagga and cash were seized.

During further patrols of Intabazwe Township at Bava zone, the team stopped and searched another young man, aged 18, and found him with 19 rocks of cocaine in his possession.

The three suspects are expected to appear before the Harrismith Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 29 June 2023, facing charges of dealing in drugs and dagga.
