Limpopo SAPS Organised Crime Investigation and Crime Intelligence Units crack down on drug dealers in Mankweng

The Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit together with the Crime Intelligence Unit arrested a 31-year-old female suspect and a 30-year-old male suspect for alleged possession and dealing in drugs at Mentz Badimong in Mankweng outside Polokwane on Friday, 07 July 2023 about 11:00.

The members received information regarding drug dealing activities in the area. The suspects were allegedly selling drugs to the local high school learners and at the taxi ranks. An intelligence-driven operation was thereafter conducted. Two learners were found in possession of two sachets of dagga at the taxi rank.

Police followed information and swoop in on the suppliers’ premises and a 31-year-old woman was found in possession of 39 sachets of Nyaope and nine sachets of crystal meth drugs with a street value of approximately R5000-00.

The other male suspect was found in possession of three Nyaope balls containing 25 sachets with a street value of approximately R3000-00.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe hailed the members involved for ridding this Province of drugs. “These drugs were meant to destroy our youth’s future,” concluded General Hadebe.

Both suspects were charged with dealing in drugs and will appear in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 10 July 2023.

Police investigations are still continuing.
