The SAPS confiscated a large quantity of drugs at a house in Prince Albert in the Central Karoo

The persistent focus to close down drug outlets in the Western Cape Province once again yielded a successful outcome with the confiscation of a large quantity of drugs at a house in Prince Albert in the Central Karoo.

On Wednesday, 16 August 2023 at about 08:10, Central Karoo Flying Squad and Prince Albert SAPS members operationalised information on drug activities at a house at Rondomskrik in Prince Albert. The team, armed with a search warrant, proceeded with a search of the premises. During the search the police members found 4132 mandrax tablets, 38 halves mandrax tablets and a plastic bag with 680 grams of dagga. The members confiscated the find with an estimated street value of R210 000 and also seized just over R5000 in cash, believed to be proceeds of the illegal drug trade. The occupants of the premises a man (54) and woman (57) were taken into custody in connection with the find.

The duo made their first appearance in the Prince Albert Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 17 August 2023 on a charge of dealing in drugs. They were remanded in custody and the matter was postponed to a 23 August 2023 for a formal bail application.
