Armed robbery suspect arrested after robbery at guest house in Protea Glen, Soweto

A 27-year-old male was arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Tactical Response Unit for armed robbery in Protea Glen Soweto.

On Sunday, 10 December 2023, officers received information of an armed robbery at a guest house in Protea Glen Ext 11 where the guests and staff were robbed of their belongings.

The officers received further information indicating that the suspect used his cellphone to book a room in order to gain access to the guest house.

The officers followed up on information of the suspect who was advertising a vehicle on Facebook. The officers posed as potential buyers and arranged a meeting with the suspect at the Engen filling station in Protea Glen.

The suspect was arrested and taken back to the scene of the crime where he was positively identified by the staff members of the guest house.
