Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela led members of Operation Shanela to an illegal mining site where the members of SAPS, SANDF and other law enforcement agencies disrupted and dismantled an illegal mining operation and seized their tools of trade.
The team also arrested foreign nationals who are suspected of being involved in illegal mining.
