Suspect linked to a business robbery in Soweto arrested

A 35-year-old male was arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Tactical Response Unit for a business robbery in Zola, Soweto.

On Thursday, 18 January 2024, officers received information about suspects who robbed the Zola Shoprite with firearms on the 10th of January 2024.

Further information was gathered and a team consisting of Crime Intelligence and JMPD officers followed up on the intel received where a male fitting the description given was spotted at Jabulani rank. The male was followed to a house at Malinga Street in Zola where he was apprehended.

The officers proceeded to search the house and found exhibits (clothing) that linked him to the crime scene.

The suspect was arrested and detained at Jabulani SAPS where a case docket was opened for further investigations, he is due to appear in court soon.
