Members of the Lingelethu-West Reaction Team were busy conducting a Vehicle Check Point (VCP) in Spine Road, whenthey witnessed a “gun salute” taking place in Phakamani Road. The members summoned reinforcement from the Operation Restore Team.
Upon approaching the scene, they saw one person running into a tavern with what is believed to be a rifle. The members ensued with a search of the premises during which they found four pistols discarded by the suspects.
An enquiry docket was opened for further investigation. The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain whether it was used in the commission of any crime.
