Alleged drug dealer arrested

OR Tambo District Task Team continues with its efforts to clamp down the selling of drugs in Mthatha CBD. Members have arrested a suspect and recovered drugs. On Friday, 09 February 2024, a 25-year-old male was arrested in the CBD while driving a silver VW Polo sedan, alleged to be delivering drugs.

It is alleged that the task team received information and spotted the vehicle and upon searching the suspect’s vehicle, sachets containing tik were found in the suspect’s possession with money under the floor mat. The suspect further led police to his place of residence in Sibangweni locality where Tik in a lunch box estimated to worth R40 000,00 and an undisclosed amount of cash were found including a toy gun. On vehicle circulation, it was found to have been stolen at Bhekithemba area under KwaZulu Natal Province.

The 25-year-old suspect has been arrested and detained at Madeira police station with the vehicle confiscated. Suspect will appear at Mthatha Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of possession and dealing in drugs and being in possession of a suspected to be stolen vehicle.
