Suspect who robbed a 100-year-old woman after breaking into her house in Nebo finally nabbed

A 31-year-old suspect who allegedly broke into the house of an elderly woman at Masehlaneng Village in Nebo Policing area earlier this month, was finally tracked down and arrested on Tuesday, 13 February 2024, while hiding in Jane Furse.

Preliminary information indicates that the suspect broke into the house of a 100-year-old woman in the early hours of 08 February, 2024 where he threatened her with a knife and robbed her of an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled the scene.

Police responded to the complaint, and upon arrival, they opened a case of house robbery. The victim was able to identify the perpetrator. The suspect has been on the run until his luck ran out when the multi-disciplinary team tracked him down to his homestead in Jane Furse.

The Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the arrest.

“This reprehensible act against one of our community’s most vulnerable is utterly unacceptable. We condemn this cowardly crime in the strongest terms, and we trust that the case will be diligently investigated to ensure justice is done,” concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe.

The suspect is expected to appear before Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 14 February 2024, on a charge of house robbery.
