Manhunt launched for suspects who robbed stokvel members in Hlogotlou

Hlogotlou police in Sekhukhune District have launched a manhunt for suspects who robbed stokvel members of a substantial amount of money after ambushing them during their monthly contributions.

According to the information, the stokvel members had just made their contributions at one of the member’s house on Saturday afternoon, 17 February 2024, when they were accosted by three armed suspects who then robbed them of all the money. The suspects also robbed another victim of cash and fled the scene.

A case of house robbery has been opened and police have initiated a manhunt for the suspects involved.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged members of the stokvel groups to heed the call for greater vigilance and security in managing their collective funds.

“The transaction to digital payments could play a significant role in protecting the hard-earned money of stokvel members,” concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe.

Anyone with information that can lead to the apprehension of the suspects can contact the investigating officer Sergeant Madimetja Manganyi at 064 687 6261 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or the nearest Police Station or use MySAPS App.
