Robbery suspects arrested near Kloof Nek Road

Cape Town’s Law Enforcement officers strike gain in the CBD. While doing patrols around the Table Mountain identified hotspots late on Thursday evening, officers identified two suspicious persons making their way down and heading towards Kloof Nek Rd. Officers approached the unknown persons, who immediately took off running.

A chase ensued and officers managed to apprehend both suspects. In their possession, a laptop, a tablet and a cellphone was discovered, all presumed to be stolen. In their possession as well, a prohibited firearm was discovered.

Both suspects were arrested, a 29 year old male residing in Imizamo Yethu and a 43 year old male residing in Alexander. Both suspects were handed over to SAPS along with all exhibits, for further investigation and for linking to past criminal cases registered.

This again is another excellent example of our enforcement officers demonstrating the need to be “fit for purpose.”

They were vigilant while out on proactive patrols. They were physically fit and coordinated their pursuit of the suspects, even while on the run. I thank these officers and all of the colleagues, across all of the services, who daily build on the reputation we are striving to create in Cape Town.
