A 73 year old female was confronted by a suspect who concealed himself in her home in Everest Heights – KZN.
A neighbour contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance after they heard the victim calling out for assistance. On arrival, the woman informed Reaction Officers that she had exited a rear door to lock up her garage.
When she returned, she noticed a male in a crouched position next to her washing machine in the kitchen. The suspect grabbed her and covered her mouth with his hand. She managed to flee and called out for assistance.
Officers entered the house with the victim who established that an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from her God lamp. Her cellphone was also missing.
The traumatised female was not injured.
