Five suspects to reappear in court following their arrest for business robberies and other crimes

Five accused aged between 32 and 43 are expected to reappear in the Bafokeng Magistrates’ Court in Tlhabane on Wednesday, 03 April 2024, for a formal bail application. Kholofelo Makuwa, Tshepo Sehulane, Christopher Majuwane, Thabo Motshwanedi, Donald Mpiyane and Collin Madisa made a first court appearance on Wednesday, 27 March 2024, for two separate charges of business robbery, unlawful possession of firearms, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of dangerous weapons and possession of suspected stolen goods.

The accused’s court appearance follows their arrest at Kgale Section in Phokeng, near Rustenburg on Sunday, 18 March 2024. According to reports, a member of the community in Phokeng reported suspicious activity of the suspects to the local police. An operation was then conducted and three suspects were nabbed in the early hours of Sunday morning, 18 March 2024. The police pounced on the suspects and found them in possession of cash, cell phones and other suspected stolen items. Further investigation led to the arrest of three more suspects and confiscation of a white Volkswagen Polo, which was apparently used during the commission of the crimes. The sixth suspect was later released.

Consequent to their court appearance, the accused were then taken to Jane Furse in Limpopo, where they are expected to appear in court on Tuesday, 02 April 2024, facing several charges of business robbery and other crimes.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, commended all members involved in the operations that led to the success. He also thanked members of the community for their continued support in the fight against crime.
