The control centre received a call from a concerned resident informing us that a male just walked past his house with a municipal dustbin with a number painted on it. On top of the dustbin was clothing and a jacket.
The units responded to investigate. Upon arrival, our officers asked the male what was inside the dustbin whereby he stated that there was wood in the dustbin.
The officer opened the dustbin and found numerous stolen items inside the dustbin.
After some questioning, the suspect admitted to stealing the dustbin and the contents inside.
The officers detained the suspect after he resisted struggling and fighting with our officers.
The homeowner arrived and confirmed that the dustbin and items inside belonged to him and were stolen from his property.
