MEC Hlomuka to open a R31 million bridge linking communities in Mandeni

The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Sipho Hlomuka will today, Thursday 18 April 2024, open a completed R31.8 million Msunduze River Bridge linking the communities of eNyoni in Mandeni.

The Msunduze River Bridge is located at Nyoni area in Mandeni linking the communities of Sikhonyane and the Nyoni Village under Mandeni Local Municipality.

The bridge serves as a link between road P459 from the south and L947 along L3110.

The construction of this bridge has reduced traveling distances and provided Sikhonyane and the Nyoni communities with access to Ekuvukeni Primary School and Hlanganani Primary School.

The 65m long bridge is providing a relief to the community of Mandeni and is providing easy access to other important amenities.

The contract value for the construction of Msunduze River Bridge is R31.8 million

Through this contract companies owned by women, youth, people with disabilities also benefited from the project and jobs opportunities were created for locals.
