A 29 year old theft suspect was arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) on the R102 in Ottawa – KZN today (Saturday).
The complainant in the theft case contacted the RUSA Operations Centre at approximately 17:34. He informed the Controller On Duty that on Saturday (08/02/2025), three (3) males entered his property and stole rims & tyres valued at approximately R10000. The incident was captured on CCTV. He noticed one (1) of the males from the footage loitering in the Ottawa – KZN area this afternoon.
Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched to investigate further. As Officers approached the location, the suspect fled into a dense bush. RUSA Members pursued and apprehended him.
During an interview, the suspect stated that the stolen rims & tyres were sold to a Zimbabwean national who operates a tyre shop in Parkgate – KZN. He was unable to provide the location of his accomplices.
The man was placed under arrest and detained at SAPS Verulam.
