During the early hours of Saturday morning, alert KZN VIP Security personnel apprehended a robbery suspect in the Sunford area.
While conducting a routine patrol, a KZN VIP Response Officer observed a male individual acting suspiciously. Upon noticing the approaching security vehicle, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the officer.
A search revealed the suspect was in possession of gold bangles, a cell phone, multiple SIM cards, and a knife. Upon questioning, the Indian male suspect admitted to robbing a female victim in the CBD and stated he intended to sell the stolen items at a local drug outlet in the Phoenix area.
South African Police Services (SAPS) were notified and promptly responded. The suspect was taken into custody for further investigation.
