At approximately 20:00 Ensure Security’s Ethekwini Urban Regeneration Teams were alerted of an armed robbery from persons in progress in the vicinity of the Kwamashu taxi rank off Soldiers Way.
On arrival on scene a male victim was found to have been struck by a light motor vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He indicated to the teams that he was pursing the suspect when he was struck and a description of the suspect was immediately circulated to additional tactical intervention teams responding.
A positive identity was made and a foot chase ensued resulting in the suspects arrest.
The man was remanded into the custody of the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
ALS Paramedic Services responded to the scene, treating and stabilizing the victim, before transporting him to a nearby private hospital for the immediate medical care he required.
