Learners at Prosperitus High School are eager to learn more about becoming #SAPS Drone Pilots at the #TakeAChildToWork event.
The drone pilots assist in crime prevention and policing operations. These drone pilots are part of the SAPS’s efforts to leverage technology in its operations, including using drones for aerial surveillance and intelligence gathering.
Drones are used for aerial surveillance, allowing the SAPS to monitor areas and gather intelligence that would be difficult or impossible to collect otherwise. They also assist in crime prevention by providing real-time aerial surveillance, which can deter criminal activity and help police respond quickly to incidents.
The use of drones allows the SAPS to channel manned aircraft resources to situations requiring human intervention, while drones are used for surveillance and intelligence gathering. This also leads to lower operating costs.
