Members of Public Order Police and the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team responded to a complaint of a shooting in Avonwood, Elsies River on Wednesday, 18 June 2025, and gathered information about the shooting and a description was given of the suspect. The members followed up the information which led them to a premises in Porterville court, where they searched the premises. The members found the suspect fitting the description and two 9mm pistols with ammunition inside a Wendy house and arrested an adult male for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The suspect will appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ court on Friday, 20 June 2025, on the mentioned charges.
The illegal possession of firearms and ammunition is a criminal offence and those who are found in possession thereof will face the consequences of their actions in terms of the Firearms Control Act.
