Hartswater Highway Patrol arrested four suspects for stock theft

The quick response from members of the Hartswater High Way Patrol Unit on information received about possible stock theft activities happening at an identified location in Pampierstad led to the arrest of four suspects between the ages of 16 and 37 on Monday, 07 July 2025 at 16:40.

As per information received, the police spotted the vehicle, which matched the description of the vehicle that was allegedly transporting a slaughtered cow.

The members stopped the vehicle, upon which one of the occupants ran away. The police managed to apprehend the other four suspects who were found in the vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicles, SAPS members discovered the carcass of the cow valued at R12 000-00 suspected to have been stolen.

The Polo Vivo sedan was also confiscated as it was used in the commission of a crime.

Any person with cattle that is unaccounted for in their kraals or grazing fields is urged to visit Pampierstad police station to report the incident or call the police on the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.

The public is reminded that rural safety and the policing of stock theft remains a priority for the SAPS in the Northern Cape.
