In a joint operation involving SAPS Counter Intelligence Head Office, SAPS Gauteng TRT, SAPS Gauteng Anti-Gang Unit, SAPS DPC Tracking Team, DPCI Tracking Team, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, CAP Specialised Operations, Tracker Connect, and Gemini Global Defense, law enforcement members acted on information regarding suspects wanted for murder and house robbery in which a child tragically lost their life.
Intelligence indicated that the suspects were traveling in a VW Polo in the Bedfordview area. The vehicle was spotted on the N3 highway heading towards Alexandra.
When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects fled, resulting in a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle collided with multiple public vehicles. Both suspects were contained and sustained serious injuries.
Follow-up investigations at a premises in Midrand revealed two sought-after motor vehicles:
• Ford Fiesta – linked to a Sandton CAS (Murder & Armed Robbery)
•Renault Sandero – linked to a Germiston CAS (Robbery)
An unlicensed firearm and ammunition, sought in connection with a Bedfordview CAS (House Robbery), were also recovered.
Investigations are ongoing to link the suspects to a series of house robberies, hijackings, and other violent crimes across Gauteng.
