Manhunt for suspects following a series of brutal shooting incidents reported in some parts of Limpopo

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has directed an intensive investigation following a series of brutal shooting incidents reported in some parts of the province, including the most recent case in the Westenburg policing area outside Polokwane.

On Tuesday, 19 August 2025, at about 17:10, police responded to a crime scene along the D1377 Kuschke gravel road where two African males, estimated between 30 and 40 years old, were found murdered. Both victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and one had his hands tied. A cartridge case, a maroon jersey, and a cash note were found at the scene. The deceased remain unidentified.

In response to these violent incidents, the Provincial Commissioner has ordered that all murder cases of this nature be transferred to the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit to ensure a coordinated and thorough investigation.

Police appeal to anyone with information that could assist in identifying the deceased or in the arrest of the perpetrators to contact Warrant Officer Phaladi Makola on 082 749 2233 or Colonel Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501. Information may also be shared anonymously through the Crime Stop number 08600 10111, the nearest police station, or via the MySAPS App.
