Two Suspects Arrested For Robbery/Stabbing: Verulam – KZN

Reaction Officers apprehended two suspects on Moss Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN, sought for a robbery/stabbing incident.

Yesterday (Sunday) at approximately 15:00, a 25-year-old female was accosted by two unknown males on Moss Street near Verulam Secondary School in Verulam – KZN. The suspects forcefully seized her handbag, which contained two cellphones, wireless earphones, R50 in cash, and her bank cards. During a struggle, one of the suspects stabbed her with the jagged end of a broken beer bottle. The incident was witnessed by her work colleague.

Both females were on their way to their place of employment this morning (Monday) when they noticed the suspects on Moss Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN. One of the suspects was still wearing a mustard T-shirt from the previous day. The female informed a member of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) who was patrolling the area.

The Officer requested backup while maintaining observation over the two males. As responding Reaction Officers arrived, the suspects fled, leading to a foot chase that resulted in their apprehension.

During an interview, Reaction Officers discovered that both suspects are members of a gang. The family of the older male arrived at the scene and stated that he had an extensive criminal history.

He was subsequently exiled from Hazelmere, KZN by residents after being apprehended for a series of crimes.

Both suspects have been taken into custody by SAPS Verulam in KZN.
