City of Cape Town’s Shot Spotter registered continuous shootings in the Manenberg area

On Wednesday, 17 September 2025, the City of Cape Town’s Shot Spotter registered continuous shootings in the Manenberg area.

The #AntiGangUnit was deployed to Manenberg, where self-initiated operations, primarily focusing on addressing the main aggressors in the conflict between certain gang groupings, were executed.

Several suspects were arrested on charges including possession of a prohibited firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and possession of drugs.

All suspects were detained at Manenberg SAPS and are due to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court soon for their respective charges.
