Operations conducted to combat the trade of counterfeit goods in Johannesburg

The South African Police Service (SAPS) Gauteng Counterfeit Unit, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, brand protectors, SARS and Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens, conducted operations to combat the trade of counterfeit goods in Johannesburg.

A total of 6 shops and 3 kiosks were visited across Honeydew, Johannesburg Central, and Brixton.

Between 19 September 2025 and 25 September 2025, these operations resulted in the confiscation of counterfeit goods valued at over R5 million. The team confiscated 14,000 counterfeit goods, including counterfeit cellphone accessories, counterfeit clothing and counterfeit consumables with a value of R5 155 110.00.

A total of 5 suspects were arrested for dealing in counterfeit goods and illegal immigrants

All suspects will appear before various Magistrate courts soon.
