Anti-Gang Unit arrests suspect for the illegal possession of firearms

WESTERN CAPE – Efforts to remove firearms which are illegally in the hands of criminals led to the arrest of a suspect when he was caught with two firearms in his house in Parkwood on Thursday evening.

Members of the Anti-Gang Unit followed up information about firearms at a premises in Parker’s Walk and searched the identified house. The members found a .38 Special revolver with six rounds of ammunition without a serial number hidden a bag. Upon further search of the house the members found another firearm, a 9mm pistol without a serial number hidden under a mattress in the room. They arrested a 30-year-old male for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

The suspect is due to make his court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged.
