Operations to combat counterfeit and illicit goods in various districts across Gauteng

SAPS Gauteng Counterfeit Unit, in collaboration with brand protectors, the Commercial unit, and Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens, has conducted operations to combat counterfeit and illicit goods in various districts across Gauteng.
Between 29 September 2025, and 02 October 2025, the members searched 23 shops and 2 kiosks, seizing a total of 15,070 items worth R4,198,900.
The seized items include counterfeit cellphone accessories, clothing, toys, consumables, illicit pharmaceutical products, and counterfeit jewellery.
The operations were conducted in the following districts:
Sedibeng District: Vereeniging & Meyerton on 29 September 2025.
Tshwane District: Lyttelton on 30 September 2025.
Ekurhuleni District: Boksburg on 01 October 2025.
Johannesburg District: Midrand on 02 October 2025.
The police urges consumers to be vigilant and report any suspected counterfeit or illicit goods to the authorities.
