K9 Unit mobilised to address theft of copper cables in Kanon, Mossel Bay

Yesterday, 13 October the Joint Operations Centre (JOC) activated SAPS support following a reported incident of copper cable theft in Kanon – a hotspot that has repeatedly suffered power outages due to criminal interference with electrical infrastructure. The report followed on the successful activation of the municipal K9 Unit – Shift C at the scene, reinforcing the Municipality’s commitment to proactive, coordinated action in safeguarding public assets.

The K9 Unit continues to prove its value in high-risk operations, offering rapid response, deterrence, and support to law enforcement teams. This intervention highlights the power of collaboration between municipal services and SAPS in protecting community safety and service continuity.
