On Monday 13 August 2025 at 08:00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) K9 Unit officers, in conjuction with South African Police Service (SAPS), Gauteng Traffic Wardens, the Department of Education and other law enforcement bodies, conducted a search and seizure operation at Parklands High School in the Alberton area.
Through continuous campaigns to ensure safety in schools and removing dangerous weapons, drugs and other illegal items within school premises, the law enforcers visited Parkland High School for a search and seizure operation.
Officers did not only conduct a search, but also engaged students on gangsterism, gang violence, bullying and also highlighted the consequences of crime and drug abuse.
Meanwhile the EMPD K9 sniffer dog, was taken around the classrooms and bathrooms to search for any substances and dangerous weapons. During the search, officers discovered vapes, ziplock bags of dagga, boxes of matches, rizzler, lighters, rolled dagga and cigarettes amongst the Parkland learners.
The EMPD, jointly with other stakeholders, will continue to conduct such operation, to ensure safety in schools throughout the City of Ekurhuleni, fostering a secure learning environment for all students.
