A 20-year-old male was released after being apprehended by Reaction Officers following a burglary in Everest Heights – KZN today (Thursday).
The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre received a tip-off indicating that a lone suspect had broken into a shed on a property located on Sapphire Road. The caller reported seeing the suspect fleeing the premises, having concealed stolen items in refuse and canvas bags.
Reaction Officers immediately responded to the scene, where they identified and apprehended a male matching the description provided. Upon searching, the suspect was found in possession of bags containing garden tools.
The homeowner was contacted to verify the ownership of the recovered items. After confirming that the garden tools belonged to him, the homeowner requested that the stolen property be seized and opted not to pursue criminal charges against the suspect.
The suspect was thereafter released.
