[PARADISE VALLEY, KZN – 19 JULY 2012 AT 19H00]
A collision on the N3 Pinetown bound near to the Paradise Valley on ramp involving a taxi, a bakkie and a light motor vehicle that had a trailer with a car on it, left fifteen people injured this evening.
ER24 and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the bakkie lying on its roof with the contents it was carrying scattered across the freeway. The bakkie was blocking the right hand lane. The taxi was in the second lane to the left, while the light motor vehicle and the trailer were blocking three of the four lanes of the freeway.
The paramedics went from vehicle to vehicle to assess who was injured in the accident. Fifteen occupants from the taxi were treated for minor to moderate injuries and were transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care. The occupants from the other vehicles were lucky not to be injured in the collision.
The accident caused major traffic delays for emergency personnel to get to the scene because the road had gone down to one lane. The cause of the accident would be investigated by the local authorities that were on the scene.
