A female riding a horse has been seriously injured after a falling from the horse on a popular bike trail west of Durban on Sunday afternoon.
Rescue Care Paramedics received a call for help just after 2pm on Sunday Afternoon for a injured rider who had fallen from a horse. The caller stated that we would need a 4X4 vehicle to get to the patient. Rescue Care’s Advanced Life Support Paramedic Shane Papanicolaou was dispatched in his specialised Rapid Response vehicle to assist. Shane battled to get to the injured lady as he went as far as he could before walking approximately 500 metres to get to the patient. Once the patient was stabilised on the scene she was carefully carried back to the rescue vehicle where she was brought out and an awaiting ambulance then transported the patient to a nearby hospital for the further care that she required.
The exact details leading up to the incident are unclear.
